Let God’s Word echo in your home this week with short daily devotions that flow from Sunday’s message!
This week’s message: “Lifted Up” (Acts 1:1-11)
Day 1 — Jesus Is Still With Us
Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:20
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Reflection:
After Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples may have wondered if they were now alone. Yet Jesus had already promised that He would never leave His people. Though we do not see Him with our eyes, He remains present through His Holy Spirit. The ascension was not Christ abandoning the world; it was His reign beginning in fullness. Wherever believers gather in His name, Jesus is there. Wherever His people go, He goes with them. In lonely moments, difficult decisions, and ordinary routines, your Savior is near.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for never leaving me alone. Remind me today that Your Spirit is with me wherever I go. Amen.
Application Question:
When today do you most need to remember that Jesus is present with you?
Day 2 — Our Advocate Before the Father
Scripture Reading: 1 John 2:1
“If anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”
Reflection:
The ascended Christ now stands before the Father as your Advocate. Jesus does not merely remember you from a distance—He actively speaks for you. When guilt and shame weigh heavily on your heart, remember that your standing before God rests on Christ’s righteousness, not your performance. Satan accuses, but Jesus intercedes. He presents His finished sacrifice for your sins and declares you forgiven. Because of Him, you are welcomed before the Father with confidence.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me Jesus as my Advocate. Help me rest in His forgiveness instead of my fears and failures. Amen.
Application Question:
What guilt or burden do you need to place into Christ’s hands today?
Day 3 — A Place Prepared for You
Scripture Reading: John 14:2-3
“In My Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.”
Reflection:
Many people spend their lives searching for belonging. Jesus comforts His disciples with the promise that they truly have a home with Him. The ascended Lord is preparing a place for His people in the Father’s house. Heaven is not an abstract idea; it is the place where Christ Himself welcomes us. One day, every sorrow, uncertainty, and loneliness will give way to perfect joy in His presence. Until then, Christians live with hope and anticipation.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for preparing an eternal home for me. Help me live with hope and confidence in Your promises. Amen.
Application Question:
How might remembering your eternal home change the way you face today’s struggles?
Day 4 — The Way of Jesus
Scripture Reading: John 14:6
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
Reflection:
Jesus not only shows us where we are going—He shows us how to live. The world often defines greatness through power, status, and recognition. Jesus chose another path: humility, service, sacrifice, and trust in the Father. He lowered Himself for the sake of others, and the Father exalted Him. As followers of Christ, we are called to walk the same road. True greatness in God’s kingdom is found in loving and serving others.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, teach me to walk in Your way of humility and love. Help me serve others faithfully today. Amen.
Application Question:
Who is one person you can intentionally serve today?
Day 5 — Strengthened by the Holy Spirit
Scripture Reading: Acts 1:8
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”
Reflection:
Jesus ascended so that His Spirit would be poured out upon the Church. The disciples could never fulfill Christ’s mission in their own strength, and neither can we. The Holy Spirit strengthens believers to endure hardship, speak truth, love others, and remain faithful. God does not call His people to serve Him alone. The same Spirit who empowered the apostles now dwells in every believer.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, strengthen me today to live faithfully and boldly for Christ. Amen.
Application Question:
Where do you most need God’s strength instead of relying on your own abilities?
Day 6 — Christ Our King Reigns
Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:9-11
“God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name.”
Reflection:
Jesus ascended not as a defeated teacher, but as the victorious King. He conquered sin, death, and the grave through His cross and resurrection. Though the world may appear chaotic and broken, Christ reigns even now. Nothing is outside His authority. Because He rules with love and mercy, Christians can face uncertainty with confidence. Our future rests in the hands of the risen and ascended Lord.
Prayer:
King Jesus, help me trust Your rule even when life feels uncertain. Thank You for reigning with wisdom, power, and love. Amen.
Application Question:
What situation in your life do you need to place more fully under Christ’s reign?
Day 7 — Living as Witnesses
Scripture Reading: Acts 1:11
“This Jesus… will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven.”
Reflection:
The ascension points both backward and forward. Jesus has completed His saving work, and He also promises to return. Until that day, the Church lives as His witness in the world. Christians are called not merely to wait for heaven, but to reflect Christ’s love, mercy, and truth now. We serve with hope because our Savior lives, reigns, and will come again. The ascension fills believers not with fear, but with joyful expectation.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, keep me faithful as I wait for Your return. Help me live as a witness to Your love and truth. Amen.
Application Question:
How can your words or actions point someone to Jesus this week?
