One Family, Many Backgrounds

Scripture: Romans 15:8–12

The church in Rome was remarkably diverse. Jews and Gentiles, people from different social and cultural backgrounds, were being gathered together in Christ. Their differences could have kept them apart, but God’s plan was bigger: to unite people from every nation under the Messiah Jesus.

This is still God’s hope for His church. Our unity does not come from having identical preferences, backgrounds, or opinions. It comes from being united to the same Savior. Jesus’ self-giving love creates a new family in which people who might otherwise remain divided learn to receive and love one another. That unity is itself a witness to the world that we belong to Jesus.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for making us one family in Christ. Forgive me for the ways I allow differences to become barriers between me and others. By Your Spirit, help Your church live in a unity that reflects the reconciling love of Jesus. Amen.
