Unrecognized by the World

Scripture: 1 John 3:2a

Reflection: The world often measures worth by power, wealth, and outward success. Because Jesus did not fit the world’s expectations of a king, He was rejected by many. As His followers, we should not be surprised when the world does not understand our identity or our values. Our holiness often looks ordinary. It looks like quiet service, humility, and love in the mundane moments of life. Though the world may not see our worth, our Father does.

Prayer: Jesus, give me the strength to stand firm in my identity when the world misunderstands me. Help me to find my validation in You alone. Amen.

Application: In what area of your life are you tempted to seek the world’s approval over God’s approval?
