Saved by Grace, Through Faith
Scripture: Ephesians 2:4–10
The Reformation’s familiar confession—grace alone, faith alone, Scripture alone—points us to Jesus Christ alone. Our salvation is not a reward for our accomplishments. It rests on what Christ has done for us, and we receive His gifts through faith. This is good news for weary consciences: our standing before God does not depend on proving that we are good enough.
Good works still matter, but they are the fruit of God’s grace, not the price we pay for it. Freed from the burden of earning God’s favor, we can serve our neighbors in gratitude. We do not have to be our own savior; Christ has already done what we could never do for ourselves.
Prayer: Gracious God, thank You for saving me as a gift through Jesus Christ. Keep me from trusting in my own achievements, and lead me to serve others freely in gratitude for Your mercy. Amen.
Application question: Where might you be treating your standing with God as something you must earn or prove, rather than a gift to receive and trust?
