Contentment in Christ
Scripture: Matthew 6:31–34
A discontented heart keeps looking for the next thing that will finally make life feel complete: another purchase, experience, achievement, or relationship. The promise of more can make us restless, as if peace is always just beyond our reach. Jesus invites us to seek first God’s kingdom and trust our Father to care for us. He does not ask us to pretend that our needs are unimportant; He calls us to place them in the hands of the One who knows us.
In Christ, we receive a deeper gift than any passing pleasure can offer. We belong to Him, and our future rests in His care. That promise can free us to enjoy good gifts with gratitude rather than grasping at them as though they were our savior.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, quiet my restless desire for the next thing. Teach me to seek Your kingdom, receive Your gifts with gratitude, and rest in Your care. Amen.
Application question: What are you tempted to believe you must obtain or achieve before you can be at peace?
