Patience Rooted in Grace
Scripture: Ephesians 4:31–32
When people disappoint us, anger can feel justified. We may believe that we must take justice into our own hands or make others pay for their failures. We are tempted to forget in these moments how patient God is with us. We live under grace: Christ has forgiven our many shortcomings, and our heavenly Father continues to deal with us in mercy.
Receiving grace does not mean pretending that hurtful actions do not matter. It means that our response need not be ruled by resentment. Because we have been forgiven, we can ask God to form in us a humble and patient spirit—one that speaks truth when needed without surrendering to bitterness.
Prayer: Merciful Father, thank You for Your patience with me. When I am frustrated by others, remind me of the grace I have received through Christ. Help me respond with truth, humility, and patience. Amen.
Application question: Where could remembering God’s patience with you change the way you respond to another person?
