Jesus Gives Himself for Us
Scripture: Philippians 2:5–8
Jesus does what we fail to do. He entrusts Himself to the Father and gives Himself fully, even when obedience leads to suffering and death. He submits to earthly authorities without making them ultimate, and He offers His body and life to the Father for our salvation. At the cross, Jesus gives Himself for people whose hearts are often divided.
Our hope is not that we can offer God a flawless heart. Our hope is that Christ has offered Himself for us. His obedience, sacrifice, death, and resurrection reconcile us to God. Forgiven and loved, we are freed to live in trust and to give ourselves in service to others.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for giving Yourself for me and for trusting the Father even unto death. Forgive my self-centeredness, strengthen my faith, and shape my life after Your humble love. Amen.
Application question: How can Christ’s self-giving love shape the way I respond to someone who is difficult to love?
