Whose Image Do You Bear?
Scripture: Genesis 1:26–27
Jesus points to Caesar’s image on the coin, then calls His hearers to give God what belongs to God. This week’s sermon draws out the deeper implication: while the coin bears Caesar’s image, our lives bear God’s image. We are not ultimately our own possessions. We belong to the One who made us, and in Baptism God has placed His triune name upon us.
That truth is both humbling and comforting. We may be tempted to define ourselves by our work, reputation, achievements, possessions, or failures. Yet our identity begins with God’s gracious claim upon us. We can live with gratitude and purpose because our lives are held within His care.
Prayer: Creator God, thank You for making me in Your image and claiming me in Baptism. Help me remember whose I am and use my life in ways that honor You and bless others. Amen.
Application question: What might change today if I remembered that my life belongs to God?
