Clothed with Christ

Scripture: Galatians 3:26-29

The wedding guest without the proper garment had refused the king’s provision and chosen to participate on his own terms. In order to stand with joy before God, we, too, need something we cannot provide for ourselves: the righteousness of Jesus.

Paul says that those who have been baptized into Christ have clothed themselves with Christ. We do not stand before God because our record is good enough. We stand before Him because Jesus gives us His righteousness, His perfection, and the forgiveness purchased by His blood. The thing we need most is the very thing God is most willing to give.

Prayer:
Gracious God, thank You that I do not have to earn my place before You. Clothe me with Christ and help me trust His righteousness rather than my own. Amen.

Application:
When you think about standing before God, are you tempted to rely on your own goodness? How does being clothed with Christ change that?
