Producing Good Fruit
Scripture: John 15:4–5
Abide in me, and I in you. … Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit.
The vineyard in Jesus’ parable is meant to produce fruit for its owner. The same is true of God’s people. We are called to live lives that reflect the One who has saved us—to trust Him, praise Him, serve others, and generously use what He has entrusted to us.
But good fruit does not come from fixating on the fruit itself. Jesus says that we bear fruit by abiding in Him. The Holy Spirit gives us new life and enables us to respond to God’s grace. So we can live generously and faithfully, not because we are perfect tenants, but because God has forgiven us and continues to work in us.
This week, then, let us live as faithful tenants of the gracious Owner. Everything belongs to Him. Everything we have is a gift. And everything we do can become an opportunity to reflect His love to those around us.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, keep me abiding in You. By Your Holy Spirit, produce in me the good fruit that brings glory to God and blessing to my neighbors. Make me a faithful steward of all You have entrusted to me, and teach me to live generously because You have been so generous to me. Amen.
Application Question:
What is one way you can set aside time to “abide” in Jesus this week, even for a few minutes?
