The Patience of the Owner

Scripture: 2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you.

The violence of Jesus’ parable makes the tenants’ rebellion increasingly shocking. Again and again, the owner sends servants to them, and again and again they reject them. Yet the owner continues to reach out. Finally, he sends his beloved son, whom the tenants kill.

We, too, have misused God’s gifts and resisted His authority. Our sin led to the death of the Son. Yet God is patient and merciful. He does not abandon His rebellious people or crush them. His Son gives His life for sinners.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great patience with me. Forgive my rebellion and my repeated failure to honor You as the owner of my life. Thank You for sending Your beloved Son to save me. Lead me to repentance and renewed trust in Your mercy. Amen.

Application Question:
Where do you see evidence of God’s patience and mercy in your own life?
