A Life of Repentance
Scripture: Matthew 4:17
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Repentance is more than feeling sorry for something we have done. It is a change of mind and direction—a turning back toward God. Jesus calls His people to a life in which we continually examine our thoughts, attitudes, and actions and allow His Spirit to bring them into greater alignment with God’s truth and loving character.
That can be humbling. We would often rather believe that we have everything figured out. Yet Jesus’ call to repent is not a condemnation but a gift. Because the kingdom of heaven has come near in Christ, we can admit when we are wrong and trust that God will lead us into something better.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, make me willing to repent when I have wandered from Your ways. Give me humility to recognize where I need to change and faith to trust You as You lead me forward. Amen.
Application:
Where might God be inviting you to change your mind or direction today?
