Jesus Is Being Proclaimed

Scripture: Philippians 1:15-18

Reflection:
Paul knew that not everyone who proclaimed Christ did so with pure motives. Some preached Christ from love, while others seemed motivated by rivalry or selfish ambition. Yet Paul rejoiced because Christ was being proclaimed.

We can easily become discouraged when people do good things for reasons that seem less than perfect. Paul’s perspective reminds us to keep our attention on Jesus. He is able to accomplish His purposes even through imperfect people with imperfect motives.

Prayer:
Gracious God, keep me from becoming distracted by the faults and motives of others. Help me rejoice whenever Christ is proclaimed and His name is honored. Amen.
