We Stand by Grace

Scripture: Romans 14:4; Romans 5:1–2

Reflection

Paul’s language about standing points us toward the heart of the Gospel: justification. We naturally want to be justified—not only before God, but before other people. We want others to understand why we are right, and we often want them to prove themselves right to us.

Paul puts justification back where it belongs: in God’s hands. We stand because Jesus died and rose for us. We stand because God declares us righteous through faith in Christ, not because we have successfully defended every choice or preference. That same grace frees us to stop demanding that others justify themselves to us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that my standing before You does not depend on my perfection or my ability to prove myself right. Thank You that Jesus has done everything necessary for my salvation. Help me rest in Your grace and extend that grace to others. Amen.
