Jesus Is Our Master

Scripture: Romans 14:4

Reflection

Paul asks a searching question: “Who are you to judge the servant of another?” We often feel responsible for fixing the people around us. When someone makes a choice we would not make, we may assume it is our job to correct them, control them, or make them see things our way.

But Jesus is their Master—and He is ours, too. We do not have the power to change another person, and we do not carry the burden of being their master. We can entrust them to Jesus, who knows them perfectly and is able to make them stand.

Prayer

Jesus, You are my Master and the Master of those around me. Forgive me for the times I have tried to control or fix others. Give me humility to entrust them to You and faith to trust that You are at work in their lives. Amen.

Application Question

Where are you tempted to “fix” someone else instead of entrusting that person to Jesus?
