Jesus Is for Everybody

Scripture: Romans 14:1–3

Reflection

The good news of Jesus is for everybody, yet living as though that is true can be difficult. We naturally gravitate toward people who think, speak, and live like we do. But the Church is meant to be a different kind of community: people who may be very different from one another, gathered together because we all desperately need the same Savior.

Paul reminds us not to despise or pass judgment on one another over differences that do not determine our standing before God. Our unity is not found in having identical preferences or practices. It is found in Jesus, our shared Master and Savior.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that Your grace is for all people, including me. Help me welcome and love those who are different from me. Keep me from despising or judging others, and teach me to see the unity You have created in Your Church. Amen.

Application Question

Who is someone in your church or community who is different from you whom you could intentionally welcome, encourage, or appreciate today?
