You Are Part of Something Bigger

Scripture: Romans 12:3–5

The Christian life is not a solo project. God has made us members of Christ’s body, and each of us has a place within that body. We do not exist merely for ourselves, nor does the Church exist simply to preserve an institution for the benefit of its current members. God is doing something much larger.

That larger vision gives meaning to our life together. God is gathering people around His Word, growing them toward maturity, creating a people marked by peace and joy, and using them to bless the world with the good news of Jesus. When we understand that we are part of something bigger than ourselves, we can stop asking only what the church can do for us and begin asking how God might use us for the sake of others.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for making me part of Your body. Keep me from living only for myself. Give me joy in belonging to Your people and help me see how my life can contribute to what You are doing among us and in the world. Amen.

Application Question:
How might your understanding of your church change if you viewed it primarily as something God is using to bless others rather than something that exists primarily for you?
