Cling to the Promise

Scripture: Matthew 13:3–8 (the Parable of the Sower); Romans 6:3–4

“For we were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that… we too might walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)

We don’t know which hearts are which kind of soil — hard, rocky, thorny, or good. We’re simply called to keep sowing the seed of God’s Word, trusting Him with the results. And we don’t have to wonder whether God intends good for us, either. In your baptism, He made you a real promise: that you are joined to Jesus, forgiven, and made His own. In the Word of forgiveness you’ve heard, and in the Lord’s Supper you’ve received, He has told you plainly that His mercy is yours. God’s Word is not an answer book. It’s a promise book — and He has already chosen you.

Prayer: Father, thank You for choosing me and for making Your promise real to me in my baptism, in Your forgiveness, and at Your table. Help me carry that same promise to others, trusting Your Word to do its work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
