A Promise, Not Magic

Scripture: Romans 1:16–17

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes… The righteous shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:16–17)

We often bring our hardest “why” questions to God’s Word, hoping for a tidy explanation. But Scripture isn’t a magic formula — it’s not a set of syllables that automatically produces results when spoken correctly. Rather, God gives us promises to believe. When Paul insists that “the word of God has not failed” (Romans 9:6), he’s reminding us that God’s Word does exactly what it was made to do: it saves those who trust it. It was never meant to answer every question we bring to it. It was meant to save us.

Prayer: Lord, when I come to Your Word looking for answers to my hardest questions, teach me instead to receive it as Your promise. Strengthen my faith to trust what You have said, even when I don’t understand everything else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
