What the Law Could Not Do

Scripture: Romans 8:3-4
“For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

Reflection
The law could show us our sin, but it could never rescue us from it — that was never its job. Only God could do what the law was powerless to do: sending His own Son to bear sin’s penalty in our place. Because of that, the righteous requirement of the law is fulfilled in us — not through our own striving, but through Christ’s finished work and the Spirit’s ongoing presence in our lives.

Your peace and security were never meant to come from mastering every temptation or eliminating every flaw. They come from Jesus, whose life now dwells in you by His Spirit. No matter how messy things feel today, He is at work bringing you into all that He made you to be.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for doing what the law never could — dealing fully with my sin and giving me Your Spirit to walk in newness of life. Let me rest today in what You have accomplished, not in what I must still achieve. Amen.
