Who Has Your Heart?
Scripture: Matthew 6:19–24
Jesus’ answer reaches beyond a question about taxes to a much larger question: Who has your heart? We can give our deepest attention and trust to money, approval, influence, comfort, safety, physical desires, or our plans for the future. These things may have a place in life, but they cannot bear the weight of being our ultimate hope.
God calls us to love Him with our whole heart. This is not simply a demand to try harder; it is an invitation to notice what is claiming our trust and to turn again to the Lord who made us and loves us. As we receive His gifts, He reorients our desires toward what gives life.
Prayer: Lord, You know the things that compete for my heart. Forgive my misplaced trust and draw my attention back to You. Teach me to receive Your gifts gratefully without making them my god. Amen.
Application question: What person, possession, goal, or worry has been receiving more of my trust and attention than it should?
