A Foretaste of the Feast

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

The royal banquet points toward the fullness of life with God, but Jesus gives His people a foretaste of that feast even now. In the Lord’s Supper, we receive His body and blood for the forgiveness of sins and look ahead to the day when His promises will be experienced in their
fullness.

The Christian life is lived between invitation and fulfillment. We have not yet experienced everything God has promised, but we already receive His gifts. The Sacrament reminds us that God’s future joy is not merely a distant hope. In Christ, that joy has already begun.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving Yourself to me and for giving me a foretaste of the feast to come. Strengthen my faith as I wait for the day when Your promises will be experienced in full. Amen.

Application:
How might remembering God’s promised future joy change the way you face today’s difficulties or distractions?
