Every Sunday, a Fresh Start

Scripture: 1 John 1:8–9

Reflection
We often think of a fresh start as something that happens when a new season begins: a new school year, a new ministry year, or a new opportunity. But as Christians, we are given something even better. Every time we gather before God in repentance and faith, we are reminded that His mercy is new to us. We do not have to carry yesterday’s sins into today as though they are still our debt to pay.

God knows the real things we would rather hide—the thoughts, words, actions, and failures that bring shame. Yet He does not turn us away. Because of Jesus, He cleanses us and declares us forgiven. We are not merely given another chance to try harder. We are given a genuinely fresh start through Christ.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for meeting me with mercy instead of condemnation. Help me to confess my sins honestly and to trust completely in Your forgiveness. Give me the joy of living today as someone who has been set free. Amen.

Application Question
What sin or failure from the past do you need to bring honestly before God and entrust to His forgiveness today?
