Trust Jesus and Be Free

Scripture: Romans 14:7–9

Reflection

Paul’s invitation is ultimately an invitation to trust Jesus. We trust Him for our salvation. We trust His Word of forgiveness. We trust His presence with us. Romans 14 invites us to trust Him with the people around us, too.

When we trust that Jesus is at work in His people, we are freed from the burden of fixing everyone else. We can pray, love, encourage, bear with one another’s weaknesses, and enjoy the richness that different people bring to the body of Christ. Jesus died and rose again so that He might be Lord of both the living and the dead. He is Lord of us all.

Prayer

Jesus, my Master and Savior, teach me to trust You more deeply. Free me from the burden of controlling others. Help me pray for them, love them, encourage them, and bear with them as they bear with me. Make me faithful to You and gracious to those You have placed around me. Amen.
