The Potter and the Clay
Scripture: Romans 9:20–21
“Who are you, O man, to answer back to God? … Has the potter no right over the clay?” (Romans 9:20–21)
When we push back against God, asking why He made things the way He did, Paul doesn’t offer a philosophical defense. He simply points to the relationship between a potter and the clay he shapes. God is the Creator, with full rights over everything He has made. It’s an answer that appeals to His authority and wisdom rather than satisfying our curiosity. And maybe that’s the point: some questions aren’t meant to be solved by us, but entrusted to Him.
Prayer: Creator God, You have shaped me and known me before I ever asked You a single question. Help me trust Your hand even when I don’t understand Your plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
