Maundy Thursday Worship – March 28, 2024

Jesus gathers with His disciples on the night before He goes to the cross for us. As they celebrate the Passover meal, the ancient celebration of God’s work to deliver His people, Jesus gives them a meal that will become synonymous with a new and greater act of deliverance.

Palm Sunday Worship – March 24, 2024

Jesus rides into Jerusalem in John 12 to the praises of the expectant crowds. This must have been an exciting moment for His followers! But Jesus was striving for a greater and different kind of honor than that which people can give. As He drew ever closer to the completion of His mission, His aim was to glorify His Father’s name and to know the honor that comes from Him alone. And He says to us today, “If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him” (John 12:26). Today’s message is “The Source of Real Honor,” based on John 12:12-28.

Hope Worship – March 10, 2024

John 3:14-21 provides us with the last portion of Jesus’ interaction with Nicodemus, in which He draws our attention back to the event of God’s people dying in the wilderness and needing His saving intervention. Jesus compares Himself to the bronze serpent: He is the one lifted up in the midst of a dying world, so that all who would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life. And so we are called to submit to God’s diagnosis of us (that we are sick, dying, needing help), so that we might be prepared to receive His cure through His Son. Today’s message is “Diagnosis Meets the Cure.”

Hope Worship – March 3, 2024

When Jesus cleanses the temple in John 2:13-22, He is attacking a practice that privileges insiders (Jewish worshipers) over outsiders (Gentiles who believed in God and came to worship at the temple). Jesus asserts His authority to do this with the veiled claim that He is the true temple of God, the One through whom God is present with His people. Moreover, even though this temple (His body) will be destroyed, He will raise it up three days later. Today, we praise God that He has included outsiders like us to belong to Jesus, and pray for His grace to be a people who bring others closer to Him as well. Today’s message is “Access to God.”

Hope Worship – February 25, 2024

In our normal life’s experience, keeping and saving go together. We save our money by keeping it in the bank or in another investment. We save up the food grown in a garden by canning it and keeping it on a shelf. But when it comes to our lives – and above all, our life with God – it is not in keeping, but losing our lives that we save them. We learn from Jesus today that life in Him involves a trade – giving up the life of our own making and design in order to embrace His abundant life. Today’s message is “Losing and Saving,” based on Mark 8:27-38.
